Sunday was the Lantern Festival here in Shanghai. Basically that means that crowds and crowds of crazy people swarm all the touristy sights in the city, eat lots of smelly and strange food, yell, push, shove, light some lanterns and then set off firework, after firework, after firework. All. Night. Long.
There was a celebration at Yuyuan Gardens and we thought that it might be nice to watch them light all the lanterns and get a litte bit festive. However, the admission fee was ridiculous and the crowds were overwhelming. After an hour of clambering through the unrelenting crowds we decided to head back home and get some sushi and sweets.
We could still hear the fireworks anyway, one woke me up this morning at 7am. I don’t understand why everyone can buy fireworks. I think I gotta get me some, because there is no use in complaining, so I might as well join in.
